Devastating News: to the loss of a great friend and local food producer – David Knipe.
It is with great sadness that we share the shocking news of David’s death following a tragic incident on his farm. He was the cornerstone of our markets and has been one of the most popular stallholders with everyone for over 25 years, he will be deeply missed by us all.
To those of you who were David’s customers, friends, and supporters: Christine and the family have expressed how much your kind words and thoughts mean during this difficult time. If you’d like to share your condolences, there will be a book of remembrance available at the Kendal Farmers Market on the 13 and 20 December, at Orton Market on Saturday 14 December and at Brampton Farmers Market, on Saturday 21 December 2024.
Christine has also asked us to confirm that as far as this year’s Christmas poultry and turkey orders are concerned, it is business as usual. The family operate as a well-oiled machine preparing and processing the Christmas birds and wants to do so this year as a tribute to David, however difficult it may be. While there won’t be chickens at the upcoming markets, all pre-orders will be fulfilled, please turn up at your local collection point at the agreed time as in previous years.
Currently, the family don’t have access to David’s phone so if you’ve already placed an order verbally or by message via David, please confirm it is on the books by emailing the family at knipes.milk@btinternet.com with the subject line: Turkey Order – [Your Name]. Similarly, if you still have to place your order, it’s not too late, please send it by email with the same subject line.
Please be mindful that the family is going through an incredibly difficult time and kindly request no phone calls to the farm at this moment. Christine has also shared that, while some may feel cancelling their orders might help, it truly doesn’t, and your continued support would be greatly appreciated.
Let’s all come together to support Christine and the family during this incredibly tough time and raise a toast to Knipey for one more time over your festive meal.
